Miami Beach, FL – Miami Beach is celebrating Black History Month with family-friendly outdoor movie screenings at the SoundScape Cinema Series, a specially-curated culinary program at the Soul Beach Food Festival, an evening of Black dance music through Miami Beach OnStage! and musical collective Public Energy at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden and much more.
“Black History Month honors the important contributions of the Black community,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “These city events enrich our community by bringing neighbors together to share in the traditions and experiences that make Miami Beach a world-class place to live and visit.”
Bring your blankets, chairs and snacks to watch a curated selection of feature films that honor Black stories, voices and filmmakers at the SoundScape Cinema Series during the entire month of February. The outdoor screenings will be held every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. in SoundScape Park at 400 17 St.
Black History Month films include “Nickel Boys” by RaMell Ross on Wednesday, Feb. 4; “Love and Basketball” by Gina Prince-Bythewood on Wednesday, Feb. 11; “Crooklyn” by Spike Lee on Wednesday, Feb. 18 and “Devotion” by J.D. Dillard on Wednesday, Feb. 25. Films are subject to change or cancelation in the case of inclement weather.
Head to the Soul Beach Food Festival on Saturday, Feb. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at Lummus Park between 6 and 7 Streets along Ocean Drive. Hosted by the Miami Beach Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with The Hungry Black Man, LLC, the 10th annual event previously known as the Soul Vegan Festival brings together the best of South Florida's and the nation's culinary soul — from Soul Food, savory barbeque and Caribbean classics to vegan delights with bold flavors. In addition to great food, the event includes live music, dance battles, an artisan market with local creators, children's zone and community vibes by the ocean. North Shore Park Youth Center will be the place to be on Friday, Feb. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the Black History Night Celebration at 501 72 St., where the Miami Beach Black Affairs Advisory Committee will also present the 2026 Black History Month Community Member Award for Public Service posthumously to Miami Beach Police Officer Arthur “Art” Martineau in recognition of his exceptional commitment and dedication to the City of Miami Beach and the world. Preregistration is required for unlimited rides and bounce houses. The evening recognizes the heritage, accomplishments and culture of African Americans, featuring performances by the city’s after‑school participants along with entertainment, rides, food and crafts. Experience an evening of an eclectic mix of Chicago/Detroit House, Juke, Footwork, and more at the second edition of Botanical Garden Groove on Friday, Feb. 27 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden at 2000 Convention Center Drive. Presented by Miami Beach OnStage! and Public Energy, the event features music by Suzi Analogue from Never Normal Records, Day/Dem representing New York’s dance scene, supported by Miami locals Duality and Natalie Foucauld, with sets recorded by Miami Community Radio throughout the evening. Guests can also explore creative activities, including customized clothing at the Grizzly Print Parlor and high-quality portrait sessions by Giana Currie's After-Hours Photoshoot Experience.
Close out the month with a special outdoor showing of “King Richard” in Altos Del Mar Park on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. The park is located at 241 77 St. Bring your blankets and enjoy complimentary popcorn. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
