Miami Beach Fight the Flood Private Property Adaptation Program to Begin Accepting 2026 Applications

Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach will begin accepting applications for up to $20,000 in reimbursement grants for eligible flood mitigation projects during the upcoming 2026 round of funding, inclusive of $2,500 in private flood risk assessments.

“Miami Beach is not waiting for the tides to tell us what’s next, we are taking decisive action to protect every corner of our community,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “This program provides our residential and commercial property owners with flood protection resources, which strengthens the very backbone of our city and ensures that our neighborhoods remain resilient for years to come.”

Applications for the 2026 Fight the Flood Private Property Adaptation (PPA) program may be submitted between Feb. 24 and April 24, 2026 for consideration in the next round of funding. Eligible projects may incorporate site-specific options, such as building elevation, seawalls, temporary flood barriers, permeable pavers, raingardens, permanent floodwalls, French drains, interior floor elevation, mechanical system flood protection, swale improvements, crawl space improvements and other improvements.

Miami Beach’s innovative PPA program is a competitive program and application does not guarantee funding. The application is open to owners of single-family homes, multifamily complexes and businesses. Low-to-moderate income applicants are eligible to receive reimbursement without a funding match.

The National Institute of Building Sciences estimates that every dollar spent on natural hazard mitigation measures can save an estimated $13 in disaster response and recovery costs.
