Miami Beach Honors 10 Exemplary Women for 2026

Miami Beach, FLState Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, REEFLINE founder Ximena Caminos and jazz singer Nicole Henry are among 10 exemplary women who will be honored at the city’s annual outdoor exhibit in Lummus Park this March during Women’s History Month.

“From public safety and education to the arts and innovation, these ten women are not just helping define our community today, they are paving the way for the next generation of leaders to follow,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “Miami Beach is a city built on the vision and tenacity of extraordinary leaders, and this year’s honorees embody that spirit perfectly. It is a privilege to celebrate the dedication of these women and the profound impact they have on our city's future.”

The “2026 Exemplary Women” exhibit also recognizes Commander Shantell Mitchell of the Miami Beach Police Department, Executive Director Silvia Karman Cubiñá with the Bass Museum of Art, co-founder and CEO Melissa Medina of eMerge Americas, co-founder Robin Jacobs of Miami Beach Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Center, board-certified gynecologist Dr. Elizabeth Etkin-Kramer, educational leader Sofia Buttacavoli and Emmy-winning journalist Lisa Petrillo who spent 25 years at CBS Miami.

The official ribbon-cutting for the exhibit will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at 12:30 p.m. in Lummus Park on Ocean Drive between 8 and 9 streets. All honorees are expected to attend the event.

“The intent of this exhibit is not only to honor these 10 exemplary women, but to also inspire women who are too often omitted from our nation’s historical narrative and tell girls that they can make their dreams come true Girls can’t be what they don’t see,” shared Lynette Long, who chairs the Miami Beach Commission for Women.

The exhibit can be viewed free of charge throughout the month of March in Lummus Park.
