—City officials will reflect on the second anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel Monday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. —

Miami Beach, FL – Mayor Steven Meiner alongside the City Commission will reaffirm support for Israel at a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. to mark the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas-led terrorist attack. Nearly 1,200 Israelis were murdered, including women and children. Some of the more than 250 hostages abducted two years ago are still believed to be held captive.

“Two years ago, Hamas terrorists carried out a barbaric attack that left innocent Israelis murdered and families shattered,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “As we mark this painful anniversary, Miami Beach stands firmly with Israel and with the hostages who remain in captivity. Our city’s bond with Israel is rooted in shared values of freedom, democracy, and resilience, and we will never waver in our support.”

The event will be held outside Miami Beach Fire Station No. 2 at 2300 Pine Tree Drive.

Shortly after the massacre, eight Miami Beach firefighters volunteered to travel to Israel. The firefighters filled in for some of the country’s first responders who were called to military service.

Last year the city gifted an ambulance to the Israeli coastal city of Nahariya. The gift was accepted by the American friends of Magen David Adom in honor of the people of Nahariya, a Sister City of Miami Beach.
