—Permit applicants will receive two courtesy alerts on the day of their inspection —
Miami Beach, FL – Striving to provide world-class customer service, the City of Miami Beach has begun issuing text reminders to residents and contractors on the day of their scheduled permit inspections to reduce uncertainty regarding inspection arrival times.
“This is exactly how local government should use technology to make everyday life more convenient for our residents,” shared Miami Beach Commissioner Alex J. Fernandez, who championed the initiative. This is a simple, common-sense solution to save people time. I’m especially grateful to resident Joshua Shemtov for bringing this concept forward a few years ago, and to our Chief Information Officer Frank Quintana for bringing it to fruition. It’s a meaningful convenience delivered at a very modest cost.”
Customers who opt into the free service will receive two automated text messages on the day of their scheduled inspections, starting at 8:30 a.m. The second message will be sent once the assigned inspector is a few stops away.
“We want to make the inspection process as efficient as possible,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “Our goal is to improve how people interact with city hall and by utilizing available technology we can ensure local projects move forward without unnecessary delays.”
To opt in for the new text service, permit applicants should visit www.miamibeachfl.gov/city-hall/building/inspections/inspections-text-messaging.
