Miami Beach, FL – The City of Miami Beach will hold a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of planned enhancements to Beach View Park on Friday, March 27 at 1 p.m. The park is located at 5301 Collins Ave. in the city’s Mid Beach neighborhood.
“Beach View Park has long been a staple of our Mid Beach neighborhood, and these upgrades revitalize the park for the next generation of families,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “This project is a key part of our ongoing efforts to ensure every corner of our city—from South Beach to North Beach—receives the investment and care our residents deserve.”
Planned improvements to Beach View Park include new playground equipment, exercise equipment, pathways, landscaping, an irrigation system and outdoor furnishings.
For the safety of residents and visitors, Beach View Park will remain closed for the duration of the expected eight-month construction period. Temporary fencing and signage will be in place to secure the site until the work is completed.
The Sabrina Cohen Foundation, which has been providing monthly pop-up adaptive beach days on Miami Beach for people with various disabilities since 2016, is fundraising to build a “Pathway of Inclusion” steps away from Beach View Park. The pathway will become Miami Beach’s first permanent ADA-accessible paver path on one of the city’s public beaches. The project will allow disabled individuals, veterans, children with special needs and seniors to better experience a day at the beach.
The foundation has launched a “Pathway of Inclusion” brick campaign not only to support the construction of the pathway, but also to build what is expected to be the nation's first-of-its-kind Adaptive Recreation Center. The foundation provides trained staff, volunteers, access decks, beach wheelchairs and other adaptive equipment for its adaptive beach days.
