—Robert “Raven” Kraft will have a street named in his honor—

Miami Beach, FL – For five decades, Robert “Raven” Kraft has run the same stretch of South Beach every day come rain or shine — offering tips to thousands of fellow runners along the way. Now, the City of Miami Beach plans to recognize Kraft’s achievement by naming 3 Street in his honor.

Please join the Miami Beach City Commission on Friday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. as they dedicate Robert Raven Kraft Way at 3 Street along Ocean Drive. The festivities will include a special birthday celebration for Kraft who is turning 75 this year.

“The Raven is a true story of resilience,” said Miami Beach Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, who sponsored the measure honoring Kraft. “Day after day, year, after year, he has never given up, and this in an important lesson for all of us. Miami Beach is fortunate to have him as an example.

Kraft hoped to find success as a songwriter in Nashville, but he came away disappointed and turned his focus to running. He ran 8 miles a day for the first 48 years but scaled back to 5 miles two years ago. His story has been featured in Runner’s World and inspired the 2017 book: “Running with Raven: The Amazing Story of One Man, His Passion, and the Community He Inspired” by Laura Lee Huttenbach.

“Raven is a living monument to wellness and the ultimate icon of the resilience and tenacity that defines Miami Beach,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “As Miami Beach continues its evolution into the health and fitness capital of the world, honoring a legend like Raven celebrates the healthy, active future we are building together.”
