—One race is headed to a runoff election on Dec. 9 —

Miami Beach voters re-elected Mayor Steven Meiner to a second two-year term during the Nov. 4. general election while also returning incumbents Laura Dominguez and Alex J. Fernandez to new four-year terms on the Miami Beach City Commission in the Group II and Group III races respectively.

The Nov. 4 election results were certified as official earlier today by the City of Miami Beach Canvassing Board.

City leaders expressed their thoughts following the certification of the results:

“Miami Beach won,” said Mayor Steven Meiner. “We have incredible momentum in public safety and economic growth, and I will continue working tirelessly for all residents—from South Beach, Mid Beach to North Beach—to make Miami Beach the best city in America.”

“It’s truly an honor to have been re-elected with such strong support from our community,” said Commissioner Laura Dominguez. “I’m excited to continue focusing on our city’s resiliency, strengthening public safety, and championing the services that matter most to our residents.”

“This election reaffirmed that Miami Beach residents value respectful, ethical leadership focused on people, not politics,” said Commissioner Alex J. Fernandez. “I’m deeply honored by the record-breaking voter support and grateful for their trust as we work to modernize our infrastructure, revitalize our economy, and preserve the character that makes Miami Beach so special.”

Miami Beach voters will head back to the polls for a special runoff election between candidates Monica Matteo-Salinas, who received 23.26% of the vote and Monique Pardo Pope, who received 20.15% of the vote in the Group 1 Commission race.

The runoff will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 9 with early voting set for Friday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, Dec. 7 — the same weekend as Art Basel Miami Beach — one of the city’s largest and most internationally attended events. Voters are advised to plan accordingly.

Four early voting sites will be conveniently located throughout the city with operating hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day:

  • South Shore Community Center - 833 6 Street (South Beach).
  • Miami Beach City Hall - 1700 Convention Center Drive. First Floor Conference Room (South Beach).
  • Muss Park - 4300 Chase Ave. (Mid Beach).
  • North Shore Branch Library - 7501 Collins Ave. (North Beach).
