— The City of Miami Beach celebrates the back-to-back Stanley Cup champs with free ice skating for residents —
Miami Beach, FL – Break away from the summer heat and show your Panthers pride! On Sunday, July 20 from 4-7 p.m., Miami Beach residents are invited to the Barbara Medina Ice Rink at the Scott Rakow Youth Center to honor the Florida Panthers’ consecutive Stanley Cup victories with free ice skating, games, music and fun. There will also be a special appearance by mascot Stanley C. Panther.
“It’s special to celebrate the Florida Panthers’ historic back-to-back Stanley Cup win in one of our incredible Miami Beach facilities,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “Public spaces are meant to bring people together and create lasting memories.”
Led by Sam Bennett, who scored 15 playoff goals and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy, the Panthers clinched the team’s second consecutive Stanley Cup championship on June 17 with a 5-1 rout of the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the final.
“It is often said that the Stanley Cup is the most difficult trophy to win in all of sports,” explained Miami Beach Commissioner David Suarez, who championed the Florida Panthers Victory Celebration Day. “The Panthers should serve as an inspiration to all Miami Beach children as to what can be accomplished through hard work and perseverance.”
The Miami Beach City Commission voted unanimously in favor of Florida Panthers Victory Celebration Day.
The Barbara Medina Ice Rink at the Scott Rakow Youth Center is located at 2700 Sheridan Ave.
