Where to Swim
Beach
The City of Miami Beach invites everyone to enjoy swimming and recreation along our 7-mile stretch of beaches. Lifeguard stands are positioned throughout and are staffed by trained professionals who monitor beachgoers and post flag warnings to indicate ocean conditions — such as strong currents, riptides, marine life presence and water quality. To ensure swimmer safety, boating traffic is restricted by swim buoys.

Water Quality Sampling, Advisories and After Rain Events
The Florida Healthy Beaches Program publishes water quality test results and advisories for beaches across the state. It is recommended to check the program’s website for the latest advisories, especially following rainfall. South Florida experiences heavy rainfall during the rainy season (May through October). During this time, stormwater runoff often flows into the bay and ocean, carrying pollutants that can affect water quality. Because of this, both residents and visitors are advised to consult current water conditions and health advisories after significant rain events to ensure safe beach use.
