Miami Beach Strengthens Local Economy with Small Business Grants

Miami Beach, FL – In a bold move to strengthen the city’s economy, Miami Beach is investing $100,000 in local small businesses under a new grant program aimed at creating pillars of resilience and growth within the business community. The 20 recipients of the city’s Small Business Grant Program will each receive $5,000 in funds that must be used to support operations, recovery and growth.

“Investing in small local businesses is an act of support. It is a commitment to the heartbeat of our community,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “These enterprises fuel economic resilience, preserve local character and anchor the jobs that keep neighborhoods thriving.”

In the wake of challenges posed by shifts in tourism trends and rising commercial rents, small businesses have shown remarkable adaptability. The grants aim to provide additional resources for local businesses to maintain operations, sustain jobs and support year-round success despite pressures such as increasing costs and seasonal slowdowns.

“Grant funding empowers small businesses to survive, to grow, innovate and stay rooted where they matter most,” shared Miami Beach Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez, who sponsored the initiative.

Chosen from dozens of applications submitted by businesses throughout Miami Beach, the recipients include restaurants and retail shops, salons and childcare providers. Each of the following grantees submitted an approved application:

18. Sky Nails & Spa of South Beach
19. Stiltsville Fish Bar
20. The Twinkling Star Learning Center & Child Care

“This grant comes at a critical time for us,” added Liliana Montoya, owner of a swimwear boutique on Lincoln Road, which was selected to receive one of the grants. “This support allows us to invest in marketing and upgrades that we otherwise couldn’t afford. It’s a game changer.”

The Small Business Grant Program prioritizes local businesses, demonstrates commitment to community and provides support for long-term sustainability. By supporting these enterprises, Miami Beach hopes to foster economic equity, encourage innovation and promote lasting retention in business corridors and neighborhoods.
