Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Upgrades Phase 2

The project's boundaries extend from the east side of San Marco to the bridge connecting the Islands and Dade Boulevard.

The existing water and sewer mains are in poor condition. This project will replace the aerial water main crossings on the Causeway, which run along the north and south sides of the Venetian bridges. Once completed, the new lines will provide a sufficient flow capacity to meet the city's growing demands.

Construction is scheduled to begin in late July 2024 and end in December 2025. The total project timeline is approximately 16 months.

A Horizontal Directional Drill, commonly abbreviated as HDD, is a trenchless method used to install underground pipelines with minimal disruption to the surface. This technique involves drilling a pilot hole along a predetermined path, typically beneath obstacles like roads, rivers, or existing infrastructure. Once the pilot hole is created, the drill is enlarged, and the water main is inserted into place. HDD is favored for its efficiency, reduced environmental impact, and ability to minimize disruption to communities and traffic flow during installation.
