—Free events are planned around the city —
Miami Beach, FL – With deep ties to Latin American culture and the Hispanic community, the City of Miami Beach is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month — commemorated from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 — with a series of free events from North Beach to South Beach.
“Our Hispanic community enriches every part of our city, from culture and music to entrepreneurship, public service and family life,” said Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner. “We’re proud to honor this heritage with free events that bring neighbors together and highlight the vibrancy, creativity and contributions of Hispanic Americans who make Miami Beach an even better place to live.”
The following FREE events are taking place around the city:
- OnStage! Hispanic Heritage Month Kick Off: ¡Baila! Miami Beach
Thursday, Sept. 17 | 7-9 p.m. | Normandy Fountain Plaza (7802 Rue Vendome)
The event features an evening of music, dance and hands-on cultural experiences at the Normandy Fountain. Residents and visitors can enjoy vibrant performances of traditional Peruvian dance by Sumaj Tusuy accompanied with a live performance by Los Hermanos Sulca, music from the Andes and beyond by Rum and Coke, featuring DJ Kumi and a textile-weaving workshop led by artist Lucia Morales.
- Hispanic Heritage Festival
Friday, Sept. 18 | 6-9 p.m. | North Shore Park Youth Center (501 72 St.)
Join Miami Beach Parks & Recreation for their annual event honoring the vibrant heritage, diverse cultures and traditions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Enjoy a fun-filled celebration featuring cultural performances by the city's talented after-school participants along with rides, food vendors, music and more. Make the most of the evening by claiming a FREE unlimited ride/bouncer wristband when you preregister in advance at register.miamibeachparks.com. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Entry is free.

Celebrate at the library with two fun, family-friendly offerings happening at the same time:
Library's Story Troupe at Miami Beach Regional – Enjoy performances and a special history adventure in the Children’s Story Room featuring Marci Poppins.
Take home and decorate your own Mexican Alebrije mask in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Recommended for ages 4-12.
- SoundScape Cinema Series presents “Selena”
Wednesday, Oct. 7 | 8-10 p.m. | SoundScape Park (500 17 St.)
Pack your blanket and head over to SoundScape Park for the 17th season of SoundScape Cinema Film Series with a screening of the popular biopic directed by Mexican American filmmaker Gregory Nava, starring Jenniner Lopez and Edward James Olmos. - OnStage! Presents Live En La Playa
Saturday, Oct. 10 | 6-10 p.m. | 6 Street and Ocean Drive in Lummus Park
Returning for a second year to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month is performances by local Latin funk legends Spam Allstars and Afro-Caribbean Jazz by Tony & The Kings. The event includes world sounds on vinyl, an outdoor record fair featuring vinyl from across Latin America and the Hispanic diaspora as well as heritage-based art workshops. - Miami Beach Salsa Fest
Sunday, Oct. 11 | 5 p.m. | Miami Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave.
Hosted and produced by singer Melina Almodóvar, known as La Muñeca de la Salsa, the program features a seniors salsa dance contest and free salsa lessons for dancers of all ages and experience levels. An opening band, to be announced, will be followed by a concert from Almodóvar and orchestra with special guest artists.
