Improving Mobility in Miami Beach

The City of Miami Beach is continuously coordinating with other government agencies to facilitate local mobility enhancement projects.

SMART Plan Beach Corridor

The Beach Corridor is one of the five rapid transit corridors of the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Program. The Beach Corridor runs from the Design District/Midtown Miami and Downtown Miami to the Miami Beach Convention Center area.

The Florida Department of Transportation oversees various mobility infrastructure improvement projects in Miami Beach including those that improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.


Our recently completed Beachwalk is a seven-mile oceanfront pedestrian promenade designed for joggers, cyclists and anyone out for a scenic seaside stroll to enjoy.

LEEDing The Way In Miami Beach

The City of Miami Beach has achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification for its sustainability initiatives.

The Green Building Ordinance

Requires new construction over 7,000 square feet or ground floor additions to existing structures that encompass more than 10,000 square feet of additional floor area to be LEED Gold certified or Living Building Challenge certified.

Green Spaces

The City of Miami Beach is reforesting select neighborhoods through the G.O. Bond program. This voter-led initiative includes a citywide reforestation project that will plant trees within rights-of-way (ROW), parks and greenspaces.

Natural Resources Management

The Environmental Division is tasked with protecting, restoring and managing the city’s natural resources and executing projects that improve the health of our habitats (beaches, dunes, mangroves, and waterways).

    Miami Beach passed Florida's first human rights ordinance and offers ADA services and resources.

  • Dog-Friendly Facilities

    Dog owners have various bark parks for their pets to play in as well as a bark beach and pet waste stations throughout the city.
