On-Demand Transit Service
In response to COVID-19 pandemic, on Monday, November 16, 2020, the City will launch an on-demand Freebee service for elderly residents living in affordable housing facilities throughout the City. Service will be provided to/from 16 elderly facilities located in South, Middle, and North Beach and the closest Publix supermarket. Service will operate seven (7) days a week, for approximately 10.5 hours a day from 7 AM to 5:30 PM. To schedule a ride, customers should call 855.918.3733 at least 30 minutes in advance of desired pickup time and provide name, phone number, pickup location, desired pickup time and number of passengers (maximum of two). Due to high demand, Rebecca Towers residents will have a dedicated Freebee vehicle. The return trips are pre-arranged between the customer and the Freebee driver.
To comply with social distancing guidelines, the number of passengers on each Freebee vehicle will be limited to one (1) per row (or no more than two (2) passengers at any time in a vehicle). Vehicles will be sanitized daily by Freebee staff, including between trips and every night to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Drivers will undergo daily health screenings. Passengers will be advised to follow social distancing and wear facial coverings.
